Tatiana Sergeievna Vitkovskaya, born in Yusovka (today: Donetsk) in1921
as the daughter of a Russian nobleman and a German-Russian mother, tells
about her childhood and youth in the Soviet Union, where her father, a
sought-after specialist in electrical engineering, is sent to different
places from Charkov to Magadan. When she is about to finish her Freshman
year in college, WWII hits the Ukraine hard and the family, almost
starved to death, escapes to Germany. She gets married to a German and
has three children before emanciapating herself and becoming an
independent woman.
