The present research work is confined to identify botanical resources
that can be used as biodiesel in Pakistan and to check their viability
from technical, commercial and economic point of view. The study was
conducted in Biodiesel Lab Department of Plant Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam
University Islamabad. Research work was comprehensive and confined to
identify the global and national resources for biodiesel production. The
study mainly focused on detailed description of plant species,
morphology, Anatomy, palynology, ecology, cultivation, harvesting and
energy. Frequent field trips and surveys were conducted to collect the
seeds of plant species and identify resource based areas. Data on
production of seeds, oil yield, biodiesel production and production of
byproducts of biodiesel were find out and presented in tables and
photographic profiles. All these finding were systematically arranged
and described in comprehensive descriptions, figures, tables and
photographic plates. It is concluded that Pongamia pinnata is the
highest source of Biodiesel than Ricinus communis and Sesamum indicum.
However all the three plant species need cultivation on their suitable
habitat in various parts
