William Elliot Griffis was an American orientalist, Congregational
minister, lecturer, and prolific author. Griffis was born in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of a sea captain and later a coal
trader. Belgian Fairy Tales is a collection of tales penne by Griffis.
