The experiment was conducted at Aquaculture Research and Development
Centre (ARDC), Kajjansi, Wakiso district -Uganda on the topic tolerance
levels of Latesniloticus (Nile perch) on water quality parameters in
glass Aquaria at Kajjansi, ARDC. The experiment was carried out for 90
days. The objectives for the research were to; determine the survival
rates of Latesniloticus exposed to different levels of water quality
parameters (temperature and dissolved oxygen), the lower and upper
tolerance levels, the effect of DO and temperature on juveniles.
Titration method was used for determining DO, PH; observation method was
also used to measure temperature. Temperatures were lowered using ice
and hot water of 900c was used to raise the water temperature. DO levels
were altered by addition of air stones to raise DO levels and reduction
of DO was done by increasing on the stocking densities. The results
showed that Nile perch juveniles tolerated high temperatures up to a
maximum of 36.50c and the lower temperatures were 100C. DO levels ranged
between 1.9mg/l to 5.9mg/l.
